Dress Code Email

Attention all bookstore employees:

It has come to our attention that customers within the store are having a difficult time recognizing our employees.  Thus, we are implementing an official dress code for the bookstore.  We realize that this may inconvenience some of you as you enjoy the freedom of an open dress code while on campus, however, it is in the best interest of the company to do this.  This new dress code requires business casual attire consisting of:
•    Khakis and polos
•    Long sleeved polos are required for those with extensive body art
•    No strong perfume or cologne
•    Well-groomed facial hair (close-cut)
•    Ear piercings in both ears are allowed, though any other large or hanging jewelry is not

Again, we understand that this may come as a disappointment to some of you, but please understand that it is in the best interest of the company that we exert a professional appearance and provide the best service to our customers as possible.  By implementing a simple and clean dress code, customers will be able to more easily identify our employees.  If you have any questions about the new dress code, please contact us immediately.

If I was an employee of your company, I would be a little annoyed with this letter, however, I would with any letter that has informed me that the dress code has changed with a more conservative approach. I do understand that companies have to do what is right for them, and I think your letter is well written and polite because does state how you understand that this may be a dissappointment. This letter shows that these are the new guidelines, but you are still concerned with our feelings. Good Job!
